![]() Then, at some point, manually activating fonts resulted in SF6 freezing up and my being unable to manually activate anything. I again contacted Extensis, who told me to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the program, which I did, and that worked for about a day. The plug-ins still needed to be deactivated and today SF6 started freezing up again when I tried to manually activate fonts. That could well be (and likely is) the root of the problem.Īnyone having any luck with another program? I've started to use Font Book again just so I can get some work done, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having these issues? Is it a Yosemite thing or an Extensis/Suitcase Fusion thing? As a graphic designer a font management system that ISN'T Font Book is a must, but I'm wondering if SF6 just isn't the best option out there anymore. Having more than one font manager on any system at a time is a guaranteed headache inducer. See the bottom of section six in my article, Font Management in OS X. It is very important to not just remove the Font Book app from the Applications folder, but to follow the steps to boot into Safe Mode to clear out its database. To make sure you're running a completely clean system (in regard to fonts), then also clear all font cache data.Ĭlose all running applications. ![]() You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window: From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly. This command removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current logged in user account. You may want to move away from Suitcase's defaults.Īfter running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac. ![]() I have never seen the slightest purpose of storing fonts in the Vault. You're just duplicating the fonts from their original location to a database of every font you've ever added to Suitcase. I never allow any of the auto enable plug-ins to operate. That's why you make sets for each project. Turn the one on you made for a project when you need those fonts on, turn them off when you're done. I much prefer to know what fonts I'm enabling/disabling than trusting an app to enable the correct ones for me.
